Internal dynamics in organometallic molecules: rotational spectrum of (CH3)3GeCl.

چکیده
The microwave spectra of (CH(3))(3)(74)Ge(35)Cl and its isotopologues (CH(3))(3)(72)Ge(35)Cl and (CH(3))(3)(74)Ge(37)Cl have been studied in the frequency range from 3-24 GHz revealing the complex internal dynamics of this organometallic molecule with three internal rotors. The assignment of the complex spectrum has been facilitated by permutation-inversion theory and ab initio calculations. The V(3) barrier to internal rotation is determined to be 372.359(47) cm(-1). Furthermore, an analysis of the chlorine quadrupole coupling yields the description of the Ge-Cl bonding character which is estimated to be dominated by covalent contributions (46.5%) together with 37.6% ionic and 15.9% pi-bonding character. From isotopic substitution the Ge-Cl bond distance could be determined as 2.15198(97) Angstroms.

متن کاملTowards the complete analysis of the rotational spectrum of (CH3)3SnCl
The rotational spectrum of the symmetric top trimethyl tin chloride (CH3)3SnCl has been studied using a pulsed molecular beam Fourier transform microwave spectrometer in the frequency range from 3 to 24 GHz. The spectrum is exceedingly complicated by the internal rotation motions of the three equivalent methyl tops, the high number of Snand Cl-isotopes and the quadrupole hyperfine structure of ...
متن کاملHIGH RESOLUTION LASER SPECTROSCOPY IN COLD SUPERSONIC MOLECULAR BEAMS COOLING, REDUCTION OF DOPPLER WIDTH AND APPLICATION
The cooling of molecules during the adiabatic expansion of supersonic seeded molecular beams is reviewed and illustrated by the example of NO -molecules. The reduction of the Doppler width by collimation of the beam and the cooling to low rotational temperatures brings a significant simplification of the complex NO -absorption spectrum and allows its assignment. The measured rotational tem...
متن کاملA numerical renormalization group approach for calculating the spectrum of a vibronic system occurring in molecules or impurities in insulators
Theoretically, in order to describe the behavior of a spectrum, a mathematical model whichcould predict the spectrum characteristics is needed. Since in this study a Two-state system has beenused like models which was introduced previously past and could couple with the environment, theformer ideas have been extended in this study. we use the second quantized version for writing thisHamiltonian...
متن کاملOrientational disorder in plastic molecular crystals - III. - Infrared and Raman spectroscopy of internal modes
2014 The formalism of symmetry adapted functions for molecular orientations introduced previously [5, 6] is here applied to the analysis of the Raman and infrared spectroscopy of internal modes in orientationally disordered molecular crystals. In some favorable cases, the contribution to the Raman and infrared lineshapes arising from the rotational dynamics of the molecules can be disentangled ...
